Mass spectrometer AutospecQ

AutospecQ is the three sectors high-resolution mass spectrometer with added quadrupole. Classification of sectors: electrostatic sector (E) - magnetic mass analyzer (B) - the second electrostatic sector (E) - quadrupole mass analyzer (Q). Manufacturer of the equipment is Micromass, Manchester, United Kingdom.

The spectrometer is equipped with ionization sources and inlet systems:
  • Electron ionization energy 70 eV (EI).
  • Chemical ionization (CI), where ions can be measured with a positive or negative charge.
  • Fast atom (ion) bombardment ionization (FAB).
  • Direct chemical ionization (DCI),
  • Electrospray ionization (ESI)
  • Chemical ionization at atmospheric pressure (APCI)
  • GC-MS: The spectrometer is coupled to a gas chromatograph (Hewlett Packard 5890 Series II) with a capillary column.
  • Tandem mass spectrometry (MS / MS): In the areas between the ion source and the first E, the B and the other E and other E and Q are located collision cells, allowing activation of ions and their further dissociation in MS / MS:
  • Identification of parent ions,
  • Identification of the secondary ions,
  • Identification of neutrals.
  • Mass spectroscopy ion kinetic energy spectra (MIKES).

Control and regulation of mass spectrometer and data acquisition takes place through a computerized system. AutospecQ is via a computer interface connected to the PC SIOS Alpha Server 1000A with a capacity of 9.1 GB disk and three additional discs.
The mass spectrometer AutospecQ can perform measurements in several ways:
a) Acquiring the mass spectrum at low resolution and ionization compounds / sample with electrons (EI).
b) Acquiring the mass spectrum of compound / sample with the use CI, FAB or DCI.
c) The precise measurement of weight ions at high mass resolution (5000 to 10000).
d) Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
e) Tandem mass spectrometry measurements (MS / MS).
f) Measurement of high molecular weight compounds (up to 100000) with ESI.

Note: Due to defect is mass spectrometer AutospecQ currently out of order.
